Una entrevista muy chula a Jackie DeShannon en el programa de radio Fresh Air (está en inglés), donde cuenta cosas tan chulas como cuando le enseñó el riff de When you walk in the room a George Harrison y éste se lo "adaptó" luego en Ticket to ride:

Jackie DeShannon was on the NPR radio program Fresh Air. It's an amazing interview, where she tells a lot of rock and roll tales, like how she taught George Harrison how to play the "When you walk in the room" riff (that he later "adapted" to Ticket to ride):

Emilio José is a musician from Galicia (North-West of Spain) that released his first solo record a year ago. At first I didn't pay much attention to it, but now I listen to his record almost everyday. His melodies are amazing and his cut-and-paste production is just brilliant:

CONDO FUCKS:

Pepe, the guitar player from Mittens, sent me the set list that Condo Fucks (that is, Yo la tengo playing covers of their favorite songs) played at last Primavera Sound Festival. They gave an amazing gig, a rock and roll lesson. I've compiled some of those songs on a Spotify list:

Esta noche (jueves 24 de junio) Mittens presentamos nuestro primer disco en Madrid. El concierto es en la sala El Sol junto a The Shellac Family y empezaremos a las 22:30h.

En las últimas dos semanas han salido un montón de cosas chulas alrededor de Mittens, estamos muy contentos ya que a mucha gente le está gustando el disco:

Tonight (Thursday 24th June) is the live debut in Madrid of Mittens first record Deer Park Mirage. We'll play at El Sol at 10:30h with The Shellac Family.

These past two weeks there have been a lot of cool reviews and articles around Mittens, we're so glad that a lot of people are enjoying the album.

Besides, we've done a video with a live version of the song Deer Park Mirage with 16 more friends that has directed José Skaf. I think it captures really good how much fun we had that day!

While we were at last Primavera Sound I uploaded some pictures to Wild Honey's Facebook account. I have compiled them all here: the trip to Barcelona, writing the set list, going to the festival on subway with all the gear, getting ready for the gig...

1- "Zebra" de Beach House, en versión del coro PS22 (merece la pena ver las otras versiones que han hecho de un montón de canciones, todas colgadas en YouTube)

2- "I Found Love in the Graveyard" de Veronica Falls, que están ahora mismo de gira por Reino Unido junto a Teenage Fanclub)

3- Y el nuevo single de Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti "Bright Lit Blue Skies", algo muy cercano a la canción pop perfecta.

They name a lot of bands I love, it makes me happy that they have been so accurate: Banana Splits, Sufjan Stevens, Harpers Bizarre, Free Design, Of Montreal, Brian Wilson... El Canal Cultural de TVE emitió el pasado domingo el episodio 14 del programa Mapa Sonoro, donde hay una pequeña pieza sobre Wild Honey junto a entrevistas a Jaume Sisa, Javier Cercas, Pony Bravo o Port O'Brien.

El reportaje lo hicimos en mi hora de la comida, así que salgo tocando una versión acústica de la canción 1918-1920 al lado de la oficina en la que trabajo. La entrevista continuó en el Centro Cubano de Madrid, un clásico de mis comidas de oficinista... que se me hace rarísimo ver en televisión!!

Spanish Public Television's Cultural channel broadcasted last Sunday the episode number fourteen of Mapa Sonoro, the most interesting program on Spanish TV right now, where there was a short piece on Wild Honey along with interviews with Jaume Sisa, Javier Cercas, Pony Bravo or Port O'Brien.

We recorded the interview during my lunch break, so I had to play an acoustic version of 1918-1920 in the street where is located the office where I work. We finished the interview at the Centro Cubano, one of the places I usually eat with my co-workers from the office... watching this familiar place on TV is so weird!
