One of my favorite Beach Boys songs is Heroes and Villains. It's the first song that Brian Wilson and Van Dyke Parks wrote together for the album that was going to be called Smile. As it happens with many of the songs they wrote in that period, there are several recordings of Heroes and Villains. The most well known recording was published as a single and was included in the album Smiley Smile, but there has always been bootlegs of other versions that didn't make it in any official record, each one with new and different parts. There's an interesting article in Wikipedia with the whole story of the song:

Yesterday we played a cover of Heroes and Villians in our show in Madrid, you can watch it in the video (recorded at the Neu! Club by Jorge Taús). Instead of covering any of the versions that the Beach Boys made of the song, we made our own, doing a sort of cut-and-paste of our favorite parts, trying to adapt the song to our sound and trying to arrange an amusing version to play live.
In this Spotify list I've included some of the most well known versions of the songs. The demo version is simply amazing, it seems that Brian Wilson is making up new parts as he's playing the piano. The last one is the recording of the song that Brian Wilson did with The Wondermints in 2004.
